Motor Tics
Wyatt
Our brain and central nervous system (CNS) are the master controllers of our existence. From the autonomic nervous system that manages involuntary functions to the neuro-motor responses that activate muscles for movement, the CNS plays a crucial role. When the CNS becomes overwhelmed or stressed, involuntary motor activation can be affected. This can lead to motor tics, especially in children, where small muscles around the face, head, neck, mouth, eyes, and shoulders are impacted.
Wyatt is an incredible example of how our approach works. When Wyatt first came to us, he was struggling with motor tics that worsened during stressful times. His parents were at a loss for how to help him manage this stress. Our neurological scans allowed us to measure the stress on his nervous system and develop a plan to help his body process stress more efficiently.
Motor tics are a sign of an exhausted yet sympathetically driven autonomic nervous system. This means the brain and musculoskeletal system are misfiring in response to chemical, emotional, or physical stress. In children, this can look like sudden head jerks, neck turns, excessive blinking, or throat clearing noises. These tics are signs of overwhelm, and the best course of action is to evaluate the brain and body to determine if the neurological system is expressing more motor output than usual.
Our doctors are trained to evaluate and create appropriate plans to improve not only the tic symptoms but the entire system that their nervous system works through. As the nervous system begins to function correctly, your child can return to a path of health and happiness.
Wyatt's journey is a testament to this process. Through regular care, his body started to process stress more efficiently, and his tics slowly melted away. Wyatt's scans showed significant improvement, reflecting his incredible progress. His parents are thrilled with the transformation, and we are honored to have been a part of Wyatt's journey to better health.
Cavik
From the start, Cavick’s little world was filled with stress—his mom experienced significant stress during pregnancy, and his first year of life was anything but easy. This early stress showed up in ways that many parents know all too well—meltdowns, trouble with focus, motor tics, and challenges with obedience. His nervous system was overwhelmed, making it hard for him to adapt to even the smallest changes in routine.
But with consistent chiropractic care, everything started to shift. His neurological scans showed just how deep-rooted his stress was, but over time, his nervous system began to regulate and function better. Now, instead of being easily overwhelmed, Cavick can adapt and react more smoothly to life’s changes. His focus is sharper, his tics have improved, and those big emotions don’t take over like they used to. With every adjustment, his body is learning how to handle stress more efficiently—helping him thrive in ways his family never imagined! 💙
